FAQ

Do I need to test my water?

It is recommended that any premises being supplied by a private water source has its supply tested on a regular, consistent basis. This is the most accurate, informed way of ascertaining what's in your drinking water and whether it is safe. There are also a range of different situations and circumstances in which testing can be necessary or beneficial, and you can read about those here to determine whether any of them may be applicable to you.

Are there risks with associated with untested, untreated water?

In one word - yes. If your water is contaminated with bacteria, or chemical levels of the water are higher than they should be, there is the potential that anyone drinking the water could become unwell. Consequences of drinking unsafe water can include stomach pain, diarrhoea, vomiting and fever, and in some instances, it can even be life-threatening. Children, the elderly and those who already have health concerns are at higher risk of illness. Untested, untreated water can also cause significant damage to plumbing fixtures and fittings as well as stain clothes, sinks and taps.

What test do I need?

The test you need will depend on a variety of factors including the test site's geographical location, applicable regulations and any suspected water issues you may have. You can read a summary of each test, as well as what is included in each here. If you are still unsure, please do get in touch and one of our experts will assist you in choosing the right test for your requirements.

Do you come and take my water samples?

We do not visit your site in order to obtain water sample, but don't worry as the sample collection process is simple. Once you have purchased your chosen test package, we will promptly send you everything you need to be able to collect your samples along with detailed instructions on how to do so. If you are unsure about anything, you can always give us a call and we will be happy to advise.

How long does it take to get my results?

How long it will take for you to get your test results back will depend on the test package you have chosen as well as any add-ons that have been purchased. Usually, you will receive your test results back within 12 working days. For our DWT04 test package it can be slightly longer than this at 14 working days but for our DWT03 test package the turnaround time is normally only 7 working days.

How will I get my results?

Once we get your test results back from the UKAS accredited laboratory, you will receive an email to let you know that they are now available and you will be sent a comprehensive results report along with accompanying certificate.

Why are your costs lower than other companies and independent labs?

We have a longstanding relationship with the UKAS accredited and DWI certified laboratory which we use to test your water samples. Due to the volume of tests that we process, we receive substantial quantity discounts which we pass onto our customers. So you get an assured, quality service at an affordable price.

I had failures on my test results. How do I solve these?

The resolution to failures will depend entirely on what failures were found. You may require a UV filter, for example or need to treat your water with specific systems. We offer a free consultation service with one of our expert engineers regarding treatment solutions to make sure you can be confident moving forward and resolving any issues that were raised from your test results. If you'd like to speak to someone about the next steps to take please call us on 01507 608 100 or email [email protected].

Do you guarantee your tests?

We use a UK laboratory who are UKAS accredited to standard ISO/IEC 17025 and hold an LCA Certificate of Registration issued by the Legionella Control Association. What's more, they are participants in a range of proficiency testing schemes including CRYPTS, QWAS, RTC, EQA, LEAP, Content and Aquacheck.

We have been in the water treatment business over 30 years and throughout this time have been involved in hundreds of private water treatment projects ranging from small domestic dwellings up to large clients such as Meadowhall, Pepsi and Unilever. Typically, we know what to expect on most reports from the different areas of the UK, and should something seem amiss we will always investigate further.

Are there any catches?

No catches. In addition to your test results you will be given a free review of the test with our engineer along with a recommendation of what you can do to fix any problems that have been highlighted. This is included with your results and whilst we would hope you'd consider us for any treatment options (if any are necessary), we certainly do not chase customers, send out pushy salesmen or cold-call

Can I cancel my test?

You may cancel your test up until it reaches the laboratory at which point the costs incurred do not make it feasible. If you cancel your test at any stage prior to receipt at the lab you will be liable for the charges incurred up to that point which will consist of courier deliveries and the cost of the bottles supplied - in most cases this is under £20. If you would like to cancel your test for any reason, please contact us at the earliest possible opportunity on 01507 608 100.
